RPC is closing down this session and it can be for several different reasons

In this case there is a Proventia integrated security appliance in between the

remote client and the server and at the time of the failures there is a log on the

device. Proventia integrated security appliances unify multiple security

technologies on a single, engine to provide advanced intrusion prevention,

firewall, VPN, vulnerability assessment, antivirus, antispam and Web filtering

protection. This isn't specific to Preventia, any device that drops or blocks RPC

packets could cause the issue.

 

A second case was caused by a CISCO router upgrade and only broke communication

between one site while others worked fine.

 

 

Check for a filtering device or an issue crossing a router/switch either between

the server and the client or the server and the DC.
